In 2013, in a new broad studio well lit by the sunlight, things became clearer and the right atmosphere was achieved. It is the return to the sort of landscape that often appears to be on the border of the recognizable, suggesting an expanded reality: The correlation between the inside world and the outside world. This place where things come together is what interests me.
I called this moment “A Common Place,” because it refers to a synthesis, a place that is everything, but is one, a place of communion, of belonging, With One. If I can say something about this painting, it is that it doesn’t propose anything other than a particular viewing experience. Nothing about ideas, stories and messages; if a viewer’s experience of the painting becomes personal, we got something common: The same unique experience I have while painting.
